PHILADELPHIA - Senior Melissa Gardel was named second-team All-Ivy for her performance last weekend at the Ivy League Championships.
She is the first female swimmer to receive All-Ivy honors in the last two years, and the first female Penn diver to be named All-Ivy since Beth Bauer finished second in the 1-meter in 1992. Gardel earned her second place finish in the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 282.35 points, and finished just nine points out of first. Last year she placed eighth in the event at the league championships. Gardel also took 13th in the one meter competition.
Penn concluded their season with a fourth place finish at the Ivy League Championships last weekend.
