Garzo Named CF360 Fencer of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Zsombor Garzo of the University of Pennsylvania men’s fencing team was name the National Fencer of the Week on Friday.

Garzo was nearly unstoppable last weekend at the Penn State Invitational, leading the way in a 5-1 afternoon for the Quakers. The sophomore epeeist went 16-2 on the day, highlighted by a sweep of the defending national champions, Columbia. In all, Garzo finished with a plus-44 touch differential and paced the epee squad to a 5-1 mark. His sweep against Columbia was highlighted by a 5–1 bout versus the 2015 NCAA Champion, Jake Hoyle.

Garzo and the rest of the Quakers will be back in action next weekend at the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Ill.
