Gordon Named Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Penn freshman baseball player William Gordon was named Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Gordon shares the honors with Dartmouth outfielder Nick Santomauro.

Gordon led Penn with a .458 batting average and had a .440 on-base percentage. Gordon hit safely in all five games this week, while recording four multi-hit games and boosted his average 50 points. He collected the first three-hit game of his career in Saturday’s win over Yale. Gordon singled in three consecutive innings and came around to score once.

In Monday’s doubleheader with Brown, the freshman collected four hits, four RBI and three runs for the day. In Game 1, he delivered a double in the seventh that broke open a 3-3 tie and scored two runs. In the second inning, he plated the tying run on a sacrifice fly. In the nightcap, Gordon had three singles and came around to score all three times.

This marks the fifth-consecutive week that a member of the Penn baseball team has earned Ivy League weekly honors.
