Gymnastics Downed by Yale


NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In the first Ivy League meet of the season, the Penn gymnastics team fell to Yale Saturday afternoon by a score of 187.775 to 179.600.

Leading Penn in vault, freshman Kirsten Strausbaugh placed fourth with a 9.425, followed by sophomore Laura DiPaolo in sixth with 9.350, and freshman Megan Milavec and sophomore Claire Stingley tied for seventh with 9.300.

Sophomore Rebecca Engberg earned the Quakers' highest score on bars with a 9.025, good for fifth, and as well as earning the Red and Blue's highest on beam with a 9.450. Senior Jenny Hurst and junior Elise Bowe took fourth and fifth with a 9.425 and 9.300, respectively.

Scoring a 9.025 on floor, Briana Pressey had Penn's best, while Milavec represented Penn for the all-around, scoring a 35.175.

The Quakers are back in action next Saturday when they compete in the Liberty Classic at Temple University, starting at 1 p.m.
