Gymnastics Drops Meet at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In an early road matchup against Ivy opponent Yale, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team was defeated by the Bulldogs, 184.350-182.800, Saturday afternoon.

In what has been a rough beginning to the 2014 season, the Quakers (0-5) continue to search for improvement and consistency throughout a lineup that has been juggled due to injury.

Starting the afternoon on bars, Penn managed just a 44.250 score with Makeda Constable recording the high score of 8.975 for the Quakers.

Moving on to vault, junior Wynne Levy stuck a nice landing on her run and ended up in the top spot for all competitors on vault, with a 9.425. Rachel Graham also scored a 9.425, with Diana Moock scoring a 9.300 and Amber Woo a 9.275 giving the Quakers the top four spots.

Carissa Lim performed a great floor routine earning a 9.600, good enough for first out of all competitors. Graham tied for second in floor with a 9.425.

On the beam, Penn was led by Woo (9.550), who was making her first appearance in the event this year. The junior was second overall, with Moock claiming third scoring a 9.475.

Penn will move forward and begin to prepare for its dual meet with Philadelphia rival Temple, next Saturday, Feb. 1 at Temple, beginning at 1 p.m.
