Gymnastics Falls to Towson, 191.825-189.600

PHILADELPHIA - The gymnastics team continues to put up high marks, but tonight Towson was slightly better as the Tigers outscored the Quakers 191.825-189.600. Still, the Quakers managed to score above 47 in each event and Dana Bonincontri found herself standing at the top of the all-around podium as well.

In the Vault, Bonincontri and Kirsten Strausbaugh finished fourth and fifth to lead the Penn scorers in the event. Megan Milavec finished the event in eighth place, while senior Elise Bowe finished up in 10th.

The Uneven Bars was a solid effort by the team. This second event would also be the event were Penn gained some ground on Towson. Strausbaugh and Bonincontri tied for the top spot with each posting a 9.625. Bowe added on to her solid performance with a fourth-place finish in this event.

On the Balance Beam, Bonincontri got routine back on track with a second place finish on the evening, scoring a 9.700. Milavec continued to impress with her fifth place finish, scoring 9.525. Bowe finished off her night with three solid scores with her seventh place finish. Strausbaugh finished in eighth place for Penn.

On the floor, an expertise of both teams, Towson held the slight advantage. Strausbaugh scored a 9.750, which landed her in fourth place at the end of the meet. Right behind her with a 9.625 was Keolamau Yee in a fifth-place tie. Milavec finished a good showing with a 9.600 on the floor to finish in eighth. Bonincontri posted a 9.500, while Katie Graham scored a 9.400. Nicki Valenti also scored a 9.300 to round out the Quaker floor rotation.

Bonincontri finished the night first in the all-around. Strausbaugh and Milavec finished in third and fourth place overall to cap off their nights.

Penn will now have a week to before it comes back to Hutchinson for a quad-meet next Sunday.
