ITHACA, N.Y. - The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team had its highest finishes in three years at the ECAC Championships on Saturday, taking second out of nine with a total score of 191.325. Towson won the championship with a score of 193.650.
On the vault the Quakers scored a 48.000. Jordan Brewer led Penn with a 9.775, which was the third-best score in the competition. Lauren Markowitz had the Red and Blue’s second-best score with a 9.675.
Lizzie Lowe and Stephanie Ortiz led Penn and tied for fifth-best over all with 9.600’s on the bars. The Quakers scored a 47.250 on the bars.
Penn scored a 48.050 on the beam. Brewer took fourth on the beam with a 9.700. Marissa Rosen had the Quakers second-best score with a 9.650. Sarah Wexler also helped the Red and Blue, scoring a 9.600.
The Quakers took a 48.025 on the floor exercise, led by Rosen’s 9.725, which was fourth-best overall. Wexler finished sixth with a 9.675. Kerri Lutfey had Penn’s third-best score with a 9.575.
Rosen finished fourth in the all-around competition with a 38.175.
Penn will now wait to hear which members of their team will qualify for the NCAA Regionals on April 14. That will be announced when all competitions for the weekend are complete.
