Gymnastics Finishes Second at Tri-Meet

BERKLEY, Calif. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team ended its week long trip in the Golden State with a second-place finish against Cal-Berkley and Air Force Friday night. The Golden Bears finished first with a score of 194.575. Penn came in second with a 191.225 and Air Force placed third with a 183.500.

Although the Quakers did not win any events, they came in second behind Cal in all four. On the vault, Penn scored a 48.100. Marissa Rosen (9.725) and Jordan Brewer (9.675) had the Red and Blue’s top finishes.

On the bars, Penn scored a 47.500. Rosen had the meets second-best score with a 9.825. Lizzie Lowe had the Quakers next best finish, scoring a 9.625.

Penn scored a 47.350 on the beam. Rosen finished third with a 9.675, and Sarah Wexler and Brewer tied for fourth overall with 9.650’s.

On the floor exercise, the Red and Blue scored a 48.275. Rosen placed second in the competition with a 9.875. Wexler came in fifth with a 9.800 and Kerri Lutfey finished seventh, scoring a 9.725.

In the all-around competition, Rosen placed second overall with a 39.100. Stephanie Ortiz finished sixth with a 36.700.

Penn is in action again on Sunday, March 18 at Brown with Southern Connecticut. The meet is slated to start at 1 p.m.
