STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – A week after winning the Ivy Classic championship the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team was back in action Saturday at No. 13 Penn State finishing in third against the Nittany Lions, Iowa State, and Brockport.
The Quakers finished the afternoon with a 191.925, behind Penn State with a 196.650 and Iowa State with a 195.375. Brockport finished with a team score of 190.750.
Starting on beam, Penn opened the day with a 48.275. Junior Amber Hu led the Quakers on the event with a 9.775, followed by senior Amanda Schlaefer with a 9.700.
After finishing with their season high scores on vault and floor a week ago, Penn finished with a 47.625 on vault and a 47.800 on floor Saturday. The Quakers were led by senior captain Wynne Levy on vault who posted a 9.725, and by junior Elyse Shenberger on floor scoring a 9.775.
Finishing the day on bars, Penn tallied a 48.225 led by junior Morgan Venuti with a 9.725, and Amber Hu with a 9.700.
Up next, the Quakers will travel to take on New Hampshire at 7 p.m. next Saturday, March 7.
