PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team finished in third place at the Ivy Classic on Sunday scoring a 190.150, finishing behind Brown and Yale, and ahead of Cornell.
Penn scored over 190 for the third consecutive weekend, the Quakers best stretch of the season, but it was not enough to overtake Brown (193.375) or Yale (190.250). Cornell finished fourth, with a 190.025 team score.
The Red and Blue were led by junior co-captain Wynne Levy onvault (9.600) and freshman Kelly Tan on beam (9.650).
The Quakers saw their best individual performances of the year to date on floor and bars, and their best team score on floor.
On floor, Penn was ledby freshman Rachel Graham,turning in a9.850, besting the previous season-high team high. Sophomore Carissa Lim was right behind Graham on floor, scoring a 9.800, also beating the previous season-high, and junior Kaitlyn Reszkowski matched her career-high, with a 9.775. The team posted a season-high 48.850 on the event.
On bars sophomore Amber Hu led Penn, scoring a 9.675. Diana Moock recorded a 9.625.
Penn will return to action on Saturday, March 1, traveling to Normal, Ill. to take on the Illinois State. The Quakers dropped an earlier home meet in January to the Redbirds, 190.400-187.900.
