Gymnastics Heads North for Ivy Showdown

PHILADELPHIA – Coming off a productive first meet, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team will hit the road once again for their first Ivy showdown with Yale. The Quakers finished in fourth out of five at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational last weekend with a strong score of 190.625.

Six Quakers recorded top-10 finishes in Washington D.C. Morgan Venuti and Ally Podsednik both finished 10th in vault with scores of 9.675, Kyra Levi and Elyse Shenberger finished ninth in bars with 9.725 scores, and Rachel Graham scored 9.675 on beam, good for 10th. Levi added a seventh place finish on floor with a 9.800.

Penn saw Yale twice last season, prevailing in a dual meet, 193.150-191.000 and defeating the Bulldogs again in the Ivy Classic. The 193.150 was the highest score for the Quakers since 2013 at the time.

Yale fell in their first meet to New Hampshire 196.075-189.700. The Bulldogs line up was made up of mostly underclassmen, but they are led by senior-captain Camilla Opperman who is the reigning ECAC champion on floor.
