Gymnastics Heads North for Tri-Meet at Cornell

PHILADELPHIA -Hitting the road once again, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team will head to Ithaca, New York for a tri-meet with Cornell and SUNY Cortland. This will be the second time the Quakers have seen the Big Red this season and it's only their third meet.

Penn is off to a good start to their 2016 campaign, they sit at 3-4 and are coming off a second-place finish in their home-opener last Sunday against West Chester and Centenary. The Quakers have been great on the floor this season, but it was a great day on the beam that impressed last weekend. The Red and Blue were led by Kelly Tan and Rachel Graham as they set a season high on beam with 47.750.

Cornell is off to a remarkable start to their season, setting program records left and right. Last time the Quakers saw the Big Red, they set a school record with a 194.025 at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational. Since then, Cornell has broken their beam score records twice. They are 4-2 on the year and are coming off a loss to Bridgeport.

SUNY Cortland will also make the trip to Ithaca having already seen Cornell this season. Cortland is 2-5 in their meets this season and were the victims of the Big Red's first beam record on January 23. The Red Dragons are coming off their best two performances of the year, an 189-plus performance against Cornell and a 187 effort a quad-meet in Springfield, Mass.

Saturday's meet is set for a 3 p.m. start.
