PHILADELPHIA - For the last three weeks, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team has been gaining momentum. since defeating Yale on January 23, the Quakers have raised their score in each of the last three meets, including setting new season-highs in the last two.
Not only is the team building each week, Penn is also starting to rack up individual honors as well. Two weeks ago, following a personal best on the beam with a 9.85, Rachel Graham was awarded the Specialist of the Week Award by the ECAC. This past week, Kyra Levi took home the same honor with a 9.80 on bars.
Saturday, the Red and Blue will head to New Brunswick, N.J. for a quad meet with Rutgers, Temple, and Ursinus beginning at 6 p.m.
This will be the second time in three years the Quakers have seen Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights made their way to West Philadelphia two years ago and walked away with a first place finish in Penn's "Think Pink" Meet at Hutchinson Gymnasium. Saturday's meet in New Brunswick will be Rutgers' Pink Meet.
Penn will see Temple for the first of two meetings on Saturday night. The Owls are coming off a season-best 192.325 at the IGI Chicago Style Tournament. The Quakers got the best of their Philadelphia rival last season, defeating the squad from Broad and Diamond, 192.475-192.150.
Ursinus will also be making the trip up the New Jersey Turnpike as well, after having to cancel last week's meet at Towson, a meet in which Penn finished third.
