PHILADELPHIA Penn returns home to Hutchinson Gym for a quad-meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Quakers will host Temple, Towson and N.C. State.
Penn is coming off a third-place finish at the 2008 Ivy Classic last weekend at Cornell. The Quakers scored 188.025 team points on the day, their highest team score of the season.
Individually, Marissa Rosen won her second Ivy Classic title last weekend. She scored a 9.750 on vault to claim the championship. She adds the vault title to her win on beam in 2007.
Other high finishes for the Quakers last weekend were Stephanie Ortiz and Jordan Brewer who tied for sixth on the floor exercise with a 9.700. Rosen posted a 9.650 on bars, good for second place.
North Carolina State enters the quad meet with the highest team score of the visiting squads, scoring a 195.475 against Michigan last weekend. The Wolfpack also have the woman with the highest all-around score 39.500 by Heather Zolton at Georgia on Feb. 8.
Temple is led by freshman Katie Canning, who has burst on the scene with consistent scores all season. She has the highest all-around score for the Owls 38.400 at Temple’s Liberty Classic on Feb. 2.
Towson makes their second trip to Penn this season. They defeated the Quakers 192.500 186.425. Christina Ghani has the high all-around score for the Tigers (38.900) and two event high scores floor (9.875) and vault (9.900).
