Gymnastics Opens Season With Fourth-Place Finish

PHILADELPHIA -Opening the season in Washington D.C. at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team came in fourth out of five with a score of 190.625, defeating the University of North Carolina. George Washington was victorious with a 195.425. Cornell and Temple also finished ahead of the Quakers on Sunday afternoon.

Penn posted a 48.125 in vault, 47.275 in bars, 46.725 in beam, and 48.500 on floor.

Morgan Venuti and Ally Podsednik both finished tied for 10th for the competition in vault with scores of 9.675.

Kyra Levi and Elyse Shenberger both finished ninth in bars with scores of 9.725.

Rachel Graham added a top-10 finish of her own with a 9.675 in beam, giving her a share of ninth.

Levi added to her impressive performance, tying for seventh in floor with a 9.800.

Morgan Hunker made her collegiate debut and was the only freshman to compete for the Quakers. She posted a 9.600 in vault and 9.725 in floor.

Penn will be back at it next Saturday, January 23, when they head up to Yale at 1 p.m.
