PHILADELPHIA -The University of Pennsylvania Gymnastics team had 18 members named to the 2016 ECAC Division I All-Academic gymnastics team.
The 18 Quakers recognized were junior Rachel Graham, sophomore Alex Hartke, freshman Kristen Ho, senior Amber Hu, freshman Morgan Hunker, sophomore Kyra Levi, senior Carissa Lim, freshman Vanessa Moody, freshman Caroline Moore, sophomore Olivia Neistat, sophomore Ally Podsednik, senior Emily Paterson, freshman Valerie Rube, senior Elyse Shenberger, sophomore Emily Shugan, freshman Nicole Swirbalus, junior Kelly Tan, and senior Morgan Venuti.
With 18 gymnasts on the list, Penn had the most of any school on the Division I or II list, besting next closest Cornell, which had 16. The Quakers represented a fourth of the Division I selections.
A total of 106 student-athletes from eight schools across Divisions I and II earned recognition for their academic achievements. To be eligible for all-academic honors, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the Fall 2015 semester.
In addition to the 18 named to the All-Academic Team, Amber Hu and Kelly Tan were two of four gymnasts named ECAC Scholar Athlete of the Year. It was Hu's second consecutive Scholar-Athlete Award.
