PHILADELPHIA - Penn gymnastics retruned home to Hutchinson Gym on Saturday to host a Quad meet with Ursinus, West Chester and Wilson. The home gym proved to be a welcome sight for the Red and Blue as they placed second among the four teams, good for their first two wins of the season.
The final team scores were:
1. Ursinus - 187.950
2. Penn - 186.400
3. West Chester - 174.875
4. Wilson - 167.175
Marissa Rosen continued her all-around dominence, scoring a 38.375 to lead all competitors. She finished 1.175 ahead of second-place Kira Oldham Curtis of Ursinus. The Quakers finished in third and fourth place as well as Jordan Brewer (37.900) and Elise Bowe (37.200) each had solid days for Penn.
Rosen posted the day's highest score on the floor with a 9.675, a score that would have been even higher if Rosen hadn't had a tenth ofa point deducted for stepping out of bounds.She alsotied for first on bars with a 9.600. Her score was tied with Olivia Oller of Ursinus for tops on the day. Shetied for second on the beam with a 9.575.
Brewer picked up second place on the vault with a 9.625, .05 behind first-place Bree Morrissey of Ursinus. She also had a third-place finishes on bars with a 9.5 and on the floor with a 9.55.
Freshman Elise Bowe had another solid day for Penn, scoring above 9.175 in all four events, with a high of 9.475 on bars.
Kerri Lutfey also provided good scores for the Quakers, coming through for head coach John Ceralde in all three events she competed in. She started the day with a 9.2 on vault and followed that with a 9.35 on the beam and 9.3 on floor.
The Quakers are back in action on February 15 when they travel to Baltimore to take part inthe Shelly Calloway Invitational hosted by Towson.
