Gymnastics Rolls Competition in Home Quad Meet

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team picked up three wins Saturday in a quad meet with Ursinus, West Chester and Wilson. The Quakers finished first with 189.425 followed by Ursinus (186.375) West Chester (175.775) and Wilson (151.075). Penn won all four events en route to the victory. The Quakers now improve to 8-4 on the season.

The Red and Blue got things started by scoring a 48.175 on the vault. Penn had the top-four scores in the event led by Marissa Rosen’s career-best 9.800. Meghan Eastman (9.675), Jordan Brewer (9.650) and Lauren Markowitz (9.575) finished second through fourth, respectively.

On the bars, Penn scored a 47.825. Rosen was once again the high-scorer with a 9.775, which tied her career-best in the event. Lizzie Lowe (9.675) and Kimberly Chin (9.650) finished second and third.

The Quakers narrowly edged Ursinus on the beam, 46.735-46.600. Samantha Benson had Penn’s best performance, scoring a 9.475 and finishing second. Stefanie Navarro and Jordan Brewer each scored 9.425’s to help the Red and Blue take the beam.

Penn had its lowest score of the afternoon on the floor with a 46.700. The Quakers once again managed to outscore Ursinus who scored a 46.350. Sarah Wexler (9.550), Lowe (9.500) and Brewer (9.500) helped the Red and Blue win their fourth event.

Next Saturday, the Quakers will take part in the Towson Invitational at 1 p.m.
