PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team launched its 2014-15 season on Thursday afternoon in the Nalitt Family Gymnastics Center inside Hutchinson Gymnasium.
The Quakers are in their second year in the new practice facility that features four balance beams, two vaulting runways, three sets of uneven bars, a trench-channel single bar, floor exercise, loose foam training pits, in-ground rezi pits, and a tumbling strip.
Prepping for what will be a challenging and exciting schedule, the team will showcase their skills first in a Red & Blue event that will take place on Dec. 5 in the Nalitt Center.
Penn will host the Ivy Classic and USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals inside the Palestra this season, along with four other home meets on the schedule. The Quakers will be led by senior captains Kaitlyn Reszkowski and Wynne Levy, along with sophomore Rachel Graham who earned USAG Second-team All-American on floor last season.
Now off and running under Head Coach John Ceralde in his ninth season, the Quakers will work up to the Red & Blue event, followed by their first official meet at home against Stanford and Bridgeport on Sunday, Jan. 18, inside The Palestra.
