Philadelphia - The Penn gymnastics team defeated Cornell, 191.075-190.425, on March 19 at Hutchinson Gym to givefive Red and Blue seniors a victory in the last home meet of their careers. Christina Anzalone, Laura Bouchelle, Alexandra Chalat, Leah Moon and Yael Sollins each had a part in helping the Quakers record their fifth win of the season and to stay undefeated at home in 2005.
Cornell proved to be a tough opponent throughout the meet and was leading by a full point heading into the final rotation. But two Cornell 8.9s on the balance beam, combined with a 9.850 by Emily Petkun on the floor, helped the Quakers hurdle the Big Red for the victory. Petkun finished the day with a 38.600 in the all around, recording scores of 9.525 on the vault, 9.625 on the bars, 9.600 on the beam and the 9.850 on the floor.
