PHILADELPHIA--The Penn gymnastics team scored its highest marks of the season Tuesday against Cornell. The Quakers scored 191.475 on senior night to defeat the 2009 Ivy Classic champion Cornell's score of 188.850. It was the final meet of the regular sesaon for Penn.
The seniors shone in their final perfomances at Hutchinson Gym. Jordan Brewer set career bests on bars (9.825), beam (9.775) and all-around (38.925). Sarah Parsons also had her best performances of the season with a 9.850 on beam and 9.600 on floor. Her beam score was not only the Quakers' best beam score of the season, but it is seventh on Penn's all-time performance list. Kerri Lutfey registered her season best on beam with a 9.550.
The underclassmen also did their part to send the seniors out in style. Freshman Laura DiPaolo led the Penn vault with a 9.775 and big 9.800 on bars. Juniors Marissa Rosenand Lizzie Lowealso contributed with 9.775 and 9.650, respectively.
As a team, the Penn bars, beamand floor unitsset new season highs as well.
Next up the Red and Blue will compete at the ECAC Championships in New Haven, Conn. Competition is set for March 21 at 1 p.m.
