NEW HAVEN, Conn. -In their first dual meet of the season, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team defeated Yale, 189.575-188.725. The Quakers had to wait an extra day due to Winter Storm Jonas, but it was well worth the wait, as they took home the win.
Penn scored 47.600 on vault, 46.825 on bars, 47.000 on beam and 48.150 on floor, taking the vault and floor events. However, they captured all four individual event titles.
Morgan Venuti and Ally Podsednik led the way on vault, each scoring 9.675. Emily Paterson was hot on their heels, scoring a 9.600 and coming in third.
Elyse Shenberger topped the bars event, scoring 9.700. Kyra Levi was the next highest Quaker, scoing a 9.625 and coming in fifth.
Kelly Tan earned the beam crown, scoring a 9.725. Amber Hu wasn't far behind, finishing second with a 9.675.
Rachel Graham made it a clean sweep for the Quakers, scoring a 9.700 on the floor event.
Penn returns home next Sunday for their first of two home meets. They will take on Centenary at noon in Rockwell Gym.
