PROVIDENCE, R.I. The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team finished first in a tri-meet at Brown with Southern Connecticut Sunday afternoon. Penn scored a 190.250, followed by Brown, 187.925 and Southern Connecticut, 185.575.
Penn scored a 47.250 on the vault. Marissa Rosen had the Quakers highest score, taking home a 9.625. Jordan Brewer followed with a 9.550 and Lizzie Lowe, Stephanie Ortiz and Jenny Hurst all scored 9.400’s.
On the bars, the Red and Blue scored a 48.050. Lowe led Penn with a 9.700. Stefanie Navarro (9.650), Ortiz (9.600), Kara Dewhurst (9.575) and Rosen (9.525) had the Quakers second through fifth-best scores, respectively.
The Quakers notched a 46.725 on the beam. Rosen and Brewer tied for the team’s best score with 9.525’s. Kimberly Chin had the Red and Blue’s third-best score, with a 9.425.
Rosen led the Quakers to a 48.050 score on the floor exercise, posting a 9.750, good for second place. Brewer scored a 9.675, followed by Kerri Lutfey and Lowe who posted 9.600’s.
Rosen came in second in the all-around with a 38.475. Ortiz scored a 36.875.
Penn returns to Hutchinson Gym Saturday for its final home meet of the season. They host Cornell at 1 p.m.
