PHILADELPHIA -Facing Cornell for the second time this season, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team won it's first tri-meet of the year, defeating the Big Red and SUNY Cortland
Penn had their best performance of the season, putting up a 190.800, 0.350 better than Cornell. The Quakers had a great day on beam for the second week in a row, scoring a 48.525. They added a 48.225 on floor, 47.400 on vault, and 46.650 on the bars.
The Red and Blue took three of the four individual titles on Saturday. Ally Podsednik earned the vault title with a 9.625. Morgan Venuti was right behind her in second with a 9.575.
On beam, it was Rachel Graham who was above the rest. Graham scored a career-best 9.850, which is also tied for the fifth-best in program history. The Quakers had three gymnasts in top four, with Kelly Tan and Ally Podsednik joining Graham.
Kyra Levi won the floor crown with a 9.750 performance. Levi was joined by four other Quakers in the top six.
Cornell finished in second with 190.450 and SUNY Cortland finished with a 184.725.
Penn will make the trip to Towson next Friday for a quad-meet with the Tigers, Pittsburgh and Ursinus beginning at 7 p.m.
