PHILADELPHIA - Just a short bus ride across the city, the Penn gymnastics team will compete at Temple's McGonigle Hall for the ECAC Championships, Saturday. The meet is set to start at noon.
After Penn's narrow .125 point loss to Cornell last week, the Red and Blue jumped up to No. 8 in the northeast regional rankings with their regional qualifying average of 189.180. After a tough start to the season due to injuries, Penn has turned it around, averaging a 189.875 in the last four meets, including its season high 191.325.
They seek the program's third ECAC championship title, with the others coming in 2004 and 1998. Last year the Quakers placed fifth, while Towson captured its fifth straight championship.
The other teams competing for this year's ECAC Women's Division I Championship are Brown, Cornell, Temple, Towson, William & Mary, and Yale.
