THE MEET -The Penn gymnastics teamwill try to win its second ECAC title in three years when it competes at the ECAC Championship at the University of Rhode Island Saturday. The Quakers (10-8) are two-time ECAC champs, winning in 1998 and 2004. They will face some familiar foes in the meet. The nine-team field includes Brown, Cornell, James Madison, Temple, defending champion Towson, William & Mary and Yale.

LAST TIME OUT -Penn was unable to catch Cornell for the second time this season, falling 188.275-186.3 in Ithacalast Saturday.The Quakersgottheir strongest performance once again from senior Emily Petkun, who won the all-around with a 37.925. The Quakers scored a 47.300 combined on bars, highlighted by Kara Dewhurst's 9.575 and Stephanie Ortiz's 9.525. On vault, Jordan Brewer earned a 9.600 and Petkun a 9.5, while Petkun and Kerri Lutfey won the beam competition with 9.5's. Ortiz posted a 9.625 and Lutfey a 9.575 on floor.

LAST YEAR - The Quakers took third at the 2005 ECAC Championships behind Towson and Rhode Island. Penn finished just a quarter of a point off URI's pace with a 191.975. Penn won the floor exercise with an outstanding 49.100, with Petkun, Kelly Sievert, and Lex Chalat earning All-ECAC First Team sports. Ortiz was a first-teamer on beam with her second-place finish, while Sievert, Petkun and Leah Moon were second-team beam honorees. On vault, Moon and Laura Bouchelle were All-ECAC Second Team members.

FAMILIAR FACES - The Quakers have met every team in this season's ECAC field except William & Mary. In dual-meet action, the Quakers are an even 5-5 against ECAC competition this season.
