Gymnastics to Compete in Shelli Calloway Invitational Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - With a full lineup after a number of early season injuries, the Penn gymnastics team will compete in the 25th annual Shelli Calloway Memorial Invitational Saturday at 2 p.m. in Towson, Md. In addition to Towson, Cornell, Temple, and Ursinus will also be in attendance.

Penn comes into the weekend with momentum on its side, coming off last weekend's third-place finish at Brown, in which the Quakers scored season-highs on vault (47.325) and bars (46.950). A number of individuals had career-best performances last Sunday, including freshman Megan Milavec's 37.300 in the all-around, and freshman Kirsten Strausbaugh's team-leading 9.625 on vault and 9.575 on bars.

With the addition of freshman Dana Bonicontri, who is in the lineup for the first time after a preseason injury, Penn hopes to put a full meet together and get one back from their opponents; the Quakers finished behind Cornell, Temple, and Ursinus already this season, meeting Cornell and Temple at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational, and Temple and Ursinus at the Liberty Classic.

The only fresh face of the invite will be Towson, who experienced its first loss of the season at the Cornell Invitational last Saturday. Cornell just edged out the Tigers by .35 points.

Temple has not competed since winning the Liberty Classic on Feb. 7, while Ursinus comes off a last place finish at Rutgers on Feb. 13.
