Gymnastics to Host Wilson, West Chester, Ursinus Thursday

PHILADELPHIA - Following last weekend's Liberty Classic meet at Temple, the Penn gymnastics team will host a rematch with West Chester University and Ursinus College, as well as see a new face in Wilson College, Thursday at 6 p.m. in Hutchinson Gymnasium. Due to the expected winter weather, the meet has been changed from Wednesday to Thursday.

With a score of 181.200, Penn placed third at the Liberty Classic, coming in behind host Temple's 188.375 and Ursinus College's slight edge, 181.725. West Chester finished last with a 176.375. Originally, Wilson was also supposed to compete in the Classic, but due to the weekend's weather conditions they were unable to attend.

The Quakers have been led by all-arounder Elise Bowe who has shown to be a consistent contributor this season, including last Sunday's 37.150.

Senior Jenny Hurst has been strong on beam, earning ECAC recognition following the Rutgers meet with a career-best 9.725, and in the most recent meet, sophomore Katie Graham had Penn's best beam score (9.450).

Leading the Quakers on vault, Laura DiPaolo recorded a 9.675 last time out, while freshmen Dana Hollinger, Kirsten Strausbaugh, and Megan Milavec have had regular strong performances for the Red and Blue.

Thursday will also be "Penn's Pink Meet for Breast Cancer Awareness" in which the Quakers will be wearing pink leotards. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the meet or to donate financially to the Rena Rowan Breast Center at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
