Gymnastics Travels to West Chester on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Penn will hit the road once again, as it visits neighboring West Chester on Saturday for 1 p.m. meet. The competition will be the Quakers’ sixth of the season, all of which have been on the road due to the construction on Hutchinson Gym.

The Red and Blue will head into the West Chester meet eight days after finishing second at their last meet. In a tri-meet with Ball State and Centenary on Feb. 1, Penn finished second with a 189.575, including a season-high 48.050 on bars. The host Cardinals (193.800) won the meet, with the Quakers outdistancing Centenary (187.550) for second.

The Golden Rams have competed four times this season, winning three dual meets, and placing third out of four teams at the Ken Anderson Invitational during their most recent trip to Philadelphia last weekend. West Chester’s best performance this season was on Jan. 26 in a 187.000-185.600 win over SUNY Brockport at home.

These two teams last met one another during a quad-meet at Penn on Feb. 9, 2011. The Quakers placed first with a 187.925 and West Chester placed third with a 182.750.

This will be the last road tune up for the Red and Blue before they host their one and only home meet of the season next weekend, when they welcome Bridgeport to The Palestra for a dual meet on Feb. 17.
