PRINCETON, N.J. - The 2011 United States Junior National Rowing Team has been selected, and incoming freshman Harry Holroyd has been selected to compete in the men's eight (8+) in the 2011 World Junior Rowing Championships to be held August 3-7 in Eton Dorney, Great Britain.
"We are very excited for Harry, and we're eagerly looking forward to his racing at the Junior Worlds.," Nicholas B. Paumgarten Head Coach of Men's Heavyweight Rowing Greg Myhr said. "Throughout the recruiting process, we felt strongly that Harry could be a major contributor at Penn. It's terrific to see him not only hold his own against the other top high school athletes in this country, but also to have earned the chance to represent the United States at this level. As part of an excellent incoming class, we're confident that Harry will play a central role here at Penn."
Holroyd will be competing at the Junior World Championships for the first time and will be a part of the men's 8+ entry from the United States which is the defending champion in the event. Of the nine members of the team, only one is returning from the 2010 gold medalists as Holroyd and his crew will look to set their own mark on the international rowing community.
