Harvard Takes Down Women's Swimming

PHILADELPHIA - The Quakers were unable to swim past Harvard on Saturday morning, falling to the Crimson 195-80 at Sheerr Pool.

Penn managed two victories in the 17 events at Sheerr pool, taking the 400 IM, and 400 yard free relay. Penn also won the 3-meter diving event, however it took place at Princeton and has yet to be calculated into the final score. In the 400 IM, freshman Melissa Parratto earned her first victory of the season, taking the event in 4:32.21. Junior Carey Stauder finished behind her in second with a time of 4:41.22.

In the final event of the meet, the Quakers once again tasted victory, as the foursome of Naomi Delphin, Amy Reams, Lauren Brandes and Andrea Balint finished in 3:37.39. Finishing behind them in second was the Red and Blue quartet of Blair Webb, Laura Klick, Megan Barron and Felicia Leksono. Brandes also took second in the 100 free with a time of 53.08 seconds.

In the 3-meter diving event, it was Melissa Gardel finishing first with a score of 273.22. In the 1-meter event, Gardel managed a second place finish for the Red and Blue. The loss drops Penn to 2-3 in Ivy action this season.

The Quakers return to the pool next Saturday, when they host Yale and Dartmouth in a tri-meet. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m.
