Heavyeights Second to No. 3 Princeton

OVERPECK PARK, N.J. --The No. 13 University of Pennsylvania heavyweight rowing program was up against a stiff challenge on Saturday morning in the 106th Childs Cup race and No. 3 Princeton prevailed in all three races -- including a win in the Varsity Eight to retain the Childs Cup.

The Quakers were second in all three races contested, comfortably ahead of No. 16 Columbia in each.

Penn gave Princeton a battle in the 2V, staying with the Tigers for the majority of the 2000-meter course before ultimately conceding a 3.2-second final margin. Penn's Second Varsity was 14.4 seconds ahead of Columbia's.

The Red and Blue will return to home waters on April 16 hosting Yale and Columbia for the Blackwell Cup on the Schuylkill.
