CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Penn heavyweight rowing team came in third at Saturday's Adams Cup, finishing behind Harvard and Navy.
On a chilly morning on the Charles River, the Quaker varsity 8 came in third in a time of a 6:23.4, behind the Crimson (6:07.0) and the Midshipmen (6:15.3). The Crimson pulled away after a tight first 500 meters.
Penn's second varsity 8 did better, crossing the line in a dead heat with Navy in 6:23.1. Both were behind Harvard's pace of 6:18.6.
The freshman 8 came in third in 6:49.9, once again behind Harvard and Navy.
Winning all five races, Harvard retained the Adams Cup for the seventh year in a row.
Penn returns to action next Saturday when it contests the Childs Cup with Princeton and Columbia in New York City.
