PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania heavyweight crew varsity 8 came up just short in the Burk Cup Saturday, falling to Northeastern by less than five seconds on the Schuylkill River.
In the varsity 8, the Quakerscrossed the line in 5:46.4, behind the Huskies' 5:41.8. The Quakers varsity four also fell to a pair of Northeastern crews, finishing in 6:37.7.
However, the Penn freshman 8 continued its outstanding spring, winning in a time of 5:45.1, over five seconds better than Northeastern's 5:50.4.
The Quakers are back in action on May 21, taking part in the EARC Sprints in Worcester, Mass.
