Heavyweight Frosh Finish Third at Head of the Charles

Boston, Mass. - The Penn freshman heavyweights competed at the annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 24. The freshman teamcompeted in the Youth 8 event, while the varsity did not travel to the event.

The course was shortened by about 800m (to a total distance of about 2.2 miles) due to a strong northeasterly wind. The Quakersraced well and placed third with a time of 11:41.2.
"Many of the top freshman teams from around the country were represented at this event," FreshmanHeavyweight Coach Seth Brennan said. "The Penn freshmen showed this weekend that they are 'in the mix'. The plan is to continue to work hard and we are all looking forward to the spring racing season."
The Quakers will continue their fall racing season at the Head of the Schuylkill on Sat., Oct. 30.
