Heavyweight Rowing Concludes Head of the Charles

BOSTON – The University of Pennsylvania’s men’s heavyweight rowing team took to the Charles River on Sunday, competing in the Championship Eights race at the 50th Head of the Charles Regatta. The Quakers finished 20th overall and 13th among United States collegiate programs.

The Red and Blue made a push in the final half of the race, moving up from 23rd position at the Weld Bridge to cross the finish line in a time of 15:08.49. The Quakers were just over three seconds behind Boston University, and just under four seconds ahead of a boat from Ivy League foe, Brown.

Craftsbury won the Championship Eight regatta in a time of 14:20.23. Harvard was the top finisher among U.S. collegiate crews, crossing in 14:29.66.

The heavyweights will be back on the water for competition on October 26, competing in the Princeton Chase.
