ITHACA Cornell swept all three races in the Madeira Bowl on Sunday morning on the Cayuga Lake inlet to claim the cup over the Quakers.
The day opened with the freshmen 8 race and the Big Red took that race by 6.8 seconds with a time of 6:26.6 to the Quakers’ 6:33.4.
Cornell continued its success with a win in the varsity 8 race. The Big Red finished in a time of 6:11.8 more than 16 seconds ahead of Penn which finished in 6:27.3. That win clinched the win for Cornell.
The final race of the day was the varsity 4 race which saw Cornell enter an A’ and a B’ boat. It was the B’ boat that won the race in a time of 7:11.2. The Big Red’s A’ boat was 2.7 seconds behind in a time of 7:13.9. Penn’s boat finished in a time of 7:49.9.
The Quakers will finish up their 2008 campaign at the IRA Regatta at Camden, N.J. on June 5.
