CAMDEN, N.J. After three days of racing at the IRA Regatta on the Cooper River, Penn’s second varsity 8 once again had success on Saturday. They finished second in the Petite Final and eighth overall among second varsity 8 crews.
Racing just before noon, it was a tight race where three seconds separated first from fourth place. Harvard’s B crew and Penn were neck and neck to the finish and the Crimson prevailed, crossing the finish line at 5:50.204 to Penn’s 5:51.331. Syracuse and Yale’s A crew both finished just two seconds behind the Quakers.
The varsity 8 came in sixth in the 3rd Level Final at 5:49.180. Syracuse finished just ahead of the Quakers by one second. Boston University won the race at 5:44. 678.
Penn’s open 4 also raced in a 3rd Level Final on Saturday. They finished in fifth-place, coming in at 7:16.152, six seconds behind fourth-place Dartmouth. Michigan won the race, clocking in at 7:00.217.
