PRINCETON – The University of Pennsylvania’s men’s heavyweight rowing team took to Lake Carnegie on Sunday, and finished sixth overall in the Varsity Eight at the Princeton Chase.
Penn’s ‘A’ Varsity Eight was sixth out of 63 boats, finishing in a time of 13:15.874. That time was just behind the finishing split from Navy’s ‘A’ boat, but was almost six seconds ahead of Cal’s entry.
In the Varsity Fours, Penn’s ‘A’ boat was fourth overall, crossing the finish line in 14:44.142. The Quakers were about 1.5 seconds behind third place Princeton.
In the Freshmen Eight race, Penn’s ‘A’ boat was third overall and second among heavyweight boats. The Quakers finished in 13:43.537, just under two seconds behind Princeton and almost 20 seconds ahead of the next finishing heavyweight boat.
