Heavyweights Third at Blackwell Cup

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. - The Blackwell Cup was tightly-contested on Saturday, with all three teams within 9.1 seconds of each other. Unfortunately for Penn, the Quakers were the third team to cross the line, behind winner Yale and second-place Columbia.

The winning time for defending champion Yale was 5:48.2 over the 2000-meter course and into a slight headwind during the varsity eight race. Columbia took second in 5:54.6 to Penn's 5:57.3.

In the second varsity, another close race was contested, with Yale eclipsing Penn by 3.1 seconds in the end with a winning time of 6:01.3 to Penn's 6:04.4

Up next for Penn is the Adams Cup with Harvard and Navy in Annapolis, Md. on April 21.
