Heavyweights to Row at Head of the Charles on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA - Two boats will compete for the University of Pennsylvania men’s heavyweight rowing team this weekend at the one of the world's most renown regattas - the Head of the Charles. The 45th edition of the annual event will take place this weekend on the Charles River in Boston, Mass.

Penn, which recorded a first-place finish in the Open 4+ and Novice 8 races in last week’s Navy Day Regatta, will compete in the Men’s Championship 4 and Championship 8. The Championship 4 is set to begin at 3:33 p.m. on Sunday with the Championship 8 set to start at 4:20 p.m.

Last year at this event, the Quakers’ four finished ninth in the championship race and was third among the Ivy League crews. Penn clocked a time of 17:11.356 in the 21-team field. While in the championship 8 race, Penn finished in a time of 15:28.83 in 24th place.
