Hobson Drafted in MISL First Round

PHILADELPHIA--The University of Pennsylvania’s senior midfielder Derek Hobson was selected as the seventh overall pick, by the Philadelphia KiXX, in the2008 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) College Draft, Wednesday.

Hobson, a San Diego native, was Penn’s leading scorer during the 2007 season with four goals and four assists. It was his best scoring season of his career. Hobson was named to the All-Ivy Team for the third consecutive year, and was named to the Philadelphia Soccer Seven All-Star team for the first time. Hobson played in all 16 games for the Quakers this season.In his last appearance in the Red and Blue, Hobson scored on a penalty kick to tie the match that the Quakers went on to win. In his career, Hobson started in all but four games and scored a total of nine goals and nine assists.

The KiXX also acquired the rights to Damian Wilson of Monmouth University, Danilo Schiavon of Quinnipiac University, Sobhan Tadjalli of University of Delaware, and Dan Stevens of University of Buffalo.
