Hoover Named Co-Ivy League Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Following a nine point and record-breaking performance over the weekend, junior forward Alexa Hoover has been named the co-Ivy League Player of the Week for Sept. 12th, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

In a 6-0 win over LIU-Brooklyn on Friday, Hoover registered one goal and one assist in a dominate team performance over the first-year program. She followed that effort with two goals and two assists in a 5-4 overtime victory at Saint Joseph’s on Sunday to help the Quakers move to 3-1 on the season.

Following the conclusion of the weekend games, Hoover’s nine points catapulted her into the Penn record books as she became the all-time points leader in program history with 103 tallies (44g, 15a), topping a record that stood for 35 years by Lisa Romig (1978-81). Additionally, the junior also tied Romig on the all-time goals list with 44 scores and she’ll have plenty of time to break through that ceiling with nearly two full years left in her collegiate career.

Hoover and the Quakers will return to action on Friday, Sept. 16th when they travel to Fairfield, Conn. to take on the Fairfield University Stags. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
