PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Alexa Hoover has been selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I offensive player of the week, as announced on Wednesday by the NFHCA.
In a 2-0 week for the Quakers, Hoover had a pair of huge efforts in victories for the Red and Blue last week as she totaled six goals in wins over Villanova and Brown.
Hoover scored four goals in a 6-4 victory over the Wildcats last Tuesday, including the final two in the last four minutes of the contest to provide the victory for the Quakers. She followed it up by tallying a pair of goals in a 3-2 victory against Brown on Saturday, with the game-tying tally in the 58th minute before the Quakers got the game-winner six minutes later. Hoover has enjoyed a strong junior season with 15 goals and 37 points to lead the Quakers.
Wednesday’s announcement marks the third weekly accolade for the junior this season; Hoover was chosen as the Ivy League Player of the Week on Oct. 31 and Sept. 15 in addition to today’s announcement.
Penn returns to action this coming Saturday, Nov. 5 when they travel to Princeton for the regular season finale. Game time is slated for noon at Bedford Field.
