Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Penn freshman Connie Hsu advanced to the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships with a straight set victory on Thursday.
Hsu faced off against Emily Fraser of Virginia on Thursday with a spot in the main draw on the line. Fraser was fresh off a pair of upsets, but couldn't take down the first-year, losing to 6-4, 6-1.
The victory moves Hsu into the main draw of 32, where she is just one of eight qualifiers to advance. The main draw features many of the top collegiate players in the country, including first round opponent, senior Michaela Kissell. Kissell is ranked 41st in the country and was a First-team All-Conference USA selection last year.
