Flushing, N.Y. - Freshman Connie Hsu saw her run at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships end on Friday with a tough three-set loss at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Playing the nation's 12th-ranked player, Denise Mauresan of Michigan, Hsu won the first set convincingly, 6-3. However, Muresan came back to take the second, 6-3. In the final set, the first-year had a chance to win it, but couldn't hold of Muresan to tied the set at six and then won the tiebreaker 7-5.
The loss is only the second for Hsu this fall as her record moves to 23-2 halfway through her freshman campaign.
The Quakers begin their spring season in January, when they open up Wednesday, Jan. 19 with Drexel at the Levy Tennis Pavilion.
