Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Penn freshman Connie Hsu saw her run at the ITA All-American Championships come to an end with a three-set loss to the country's 41st ranked player.
Hsu took on Marshall's Michaela Kissell on Thursday evening in her first match of the main draw. The first-year nearly captured the first set, losing 7-6 (4). She rebounded to take the second convincingly, 6-1, but couldn't complete upset, falling in the third, 6-2.
The loss is the first of the season for Hsu, who won three straight matches in both pre-qualifying and qualifying to advance to the main draw. She won four of her six matches at the tournament in straight sets, including a pair of two-set victories over players ranked in the top 50.
Hsu will return to action for the ITA Northeast Regionals next weekend at Dartmouth.
