Hsu Wins First Round Match at Indoor Championships

Flushing, N.Y. - Freshman Connie Hsu won her first match at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships to advance to the round of 16 on Thursday at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Hsu needed just two sets to take care of Florida's Olivia Janowicz and move on to the round of 16. Janowicz, also a freshman, showed little resistance in falling to Hsu, 6-3, 6-3.

Hsu has the rest of the day off before taking on senior Denise Muresan of Michigan on Friday. Muresan, ranked 12th in the nation by the ITA, won her first round match 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. Live stats will be available on Friday by clicking here.
