Huskies Outlast Heavyweight Rowing in Burk Cup

BOSTON, Mass. – In their second to last cup race of the spring, Northeastern took two races from the University of Pennsylvania men’s heavyweight rowing team in the Burk Cup Saturday morning on the Charles River. The Huskies won in the varsity 8 and the second varsity 8.

Northeastern got revenge on the varsity 8 as last week at EARC Sprints Penn finished just 1.3 seconds ahead of the Huskies to come in third in the Petite final. Penn fought hard all the way to the finish, not allowing Northeastern to take an open water victory. The Huskies crossed the finish line at 5:54.7, while Penn followed at 5:57.1.

Penn will host Cornell in the Madeira Cup, hosted by the Class of 1987, Friday, May 25 in their final cup race of the spring.
