Philadelphia -- Eight: Ivy League Football and America, a documentary exploring the role of Ivy League schools in the development of football, will air on the New England Sports Network (NESN) beginning Saturday, Nov. 1.
Eight is narrated by two-time Tony Award-winning actor Brian Dennehy (Columbia ’60) and features interviews from various Ivy League alumni, including Penn State coach Joe Paterno (Brown ’50), Academy Award-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones (Harvard ’69), and Penn alumnus and College and Pro Football Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik (C’49). Erik Anjou and Mark Bernstein, author of Football: The Ivy League Origins of an American Obsession, team up to produce the film.
According to an agreement with USA World Events, the sports and entertainment marketing company backing the project, NESN has guaranteed a minimum of three airings, with an option to run the program up to ten times on its network.
NESN’s regional and national footprint ensures that the documentary will receive widespread exposure throughout the country. Over 5 million households in New England alone, in addition to national subscribers through DirecTV, have access to NESN programming.
